Sir Alexander Fleming

Sir Alexander Fleming depicted at work in a stained-glass window of a church in London. Fleming (1881 - 1955) was a Scottish biologist and pharmacologist. Fleming moved to London where he studied and conducted research at St. Mary's Medical School, London University. A captain in the Army Medical Corps during WWI, Fleming is known for his discovery of the lysozyme and the isolation of penicillin to cure disease. He received the Nobel Prized in Phyiology or Medicine in 1945 along with Chain and Florey for their work with penicillin.
