Kelt-9b, Hottest Exoplanet

This artist's concept shows planet KELT-9b orbiting its host star, KELT-9. It is the hottest gas giant planet discovered to date. The planet is a so-called 'hot Jupiter', one of several varieties of exoplanets (planets around stars other than our Sun) found in our galaxy. It weighs in at nearly three times the mass of our own Jupiter and orbits a star about 670 light-years away. Its surface temperature is about 7,800 degrees Fahrenheit (4,300 degrees Celsius), making it the hottest exoplanet discovered to date.
