The Ballroom, Devonshire House, Berkeley Street, London, 1894. Palladian town house refurbished c1740, to designs by William Kent. It was the London residence of the Dukes of Devonshire, and was the setting for a brilliant social and political life, with lavish balls thrown by William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire and his wife, Lady Georgiana Spencer.
