Strip of machine-made lace with sunflower and candelabrum motif with feathered leaf curls, Strip of machine-made lace: machine-made Binche lace. The symmetrical pattern is formed by a hanging sunflower or daisy next to a candelabra-like motif composed of curling feathered leaves, with a crown at the top. The motifs have openwork borders and are connected by a machine braided ground. Several machine-made snowflake grounds were used as decorative grounds. The top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, with the bottom having picots., J. Gaillard, Calais, c. 1881, cotton (textile), length 9 cm × width 8 cm.
