SYMBOLS - OCCULT ART - ROSICRUCIANS . One of a series of influential occult engravings by William Law, in explication of the principles in the arcane thought of the Rosicrucian, Jacob Boehme, from The Works of Jacob Behmen, The Teutonic Theosopher, Vol 1, 1764. Plate 6 illustrates the separation from the flaming Ternary of the Godhead of the rebellious angel, Lucifer. In the words of Boehme, this 'Representative of GodÖcommits High Treason, revolts, lets his dark, proud Will-SpiritÖout of his own Center fly up on high, above God and all the Hosts of Heaven to be himself, All in All'. This 'fall' of Lucifer is represented as a lightning flash (centred on the number 4), from which emerges the lower realm of the demons. The quotations are from William Law's An Illustration of the Deep Principles of Jacob Behmen, the Teutonic Theosopher.
