The Queen Mother's gown is of creamy white satin, short sleeved with a U-shaped inset of gold lame on the bodice. It is embroidered in a delicate design, worked horizontally, of trailing ostrich feathers, the stems of glittering diamante. Princess Margaret's dress was the only all-white one worn by the Royal party in the Abbey. Sleeves and bodice are embroidered with silver, diamante and pearls, and sewn with medallions of broderie anglaise in silver and pearls. July 9, 1953.
