'At the town and station of Weedon great numbers of people had collected. The military...lined the road, and there was a guard of honour...under the command of Captain Gordon. The Marquis of Exeter, who had arrived previously, and Sir Henry Dryden, the high sheriff of the county, were at the station to receive her Majesty. At a quarter past two the approach of her Majesty to the station was announced by the elevation of the Royal standard, and in a few minutes more the Royal party entered the station...On the departure of the Queen and Prince Albert, the Prince shook hands with the Marquis of Exeter, and the train started, amidst the cheers of the people, at five minutes to three o'clock'.
