Till Eulenspiegel is popular figure from German folklore who first appears in print in a chapbook from 1515. He is a prankster who exposes vices. His life is set in the first half of the 1300s and he dies of the plague in 1350. His surname literally means "owl-mirror but may also be a pun meaning wipe your arse.
