Book of Tantric Rituals and Astrology from Nepal, 17th century. Ink and opaque watercolor on paper with leather binding. Nepal had its own practice of astrology that is still being followed by special communities. These practices are different from Vedic Astrology that has been well documented and taught all over the world. Due to various reasons the old astrologers had developed their own system that has not been well documented. Tantra are the sacred books of Tantrism, written between the 7th and 17th centuries AD, mainly in the form of a dialogue between Siva and his wife. The word tantric is used loosely in the West to denote erotic spiritualism.
