Laocoon, Trojan priest from Rome

Laocoon, from Rome, c. 50-20 BC. The Trojan priest and his sons struggle with two flesh-eating snakes that had been sent as a divine punishment for the priests' crimes. The group was found in Rome in 1506 and is perhaps the single best known sculpture from antiquity.
