Egyptian Suffragette Leader On Trail Case Virtually Dismissed -- Doctor Doria Shafik, one of Egypt's foremost leaders of the emancipation of women movement, chats with her white-bearded father-in-law in court here. Her father-in-law was one of the six lawyers who volunteered to defend her in the case brought by the Egypt Government, who charged her with inciting revolt and leading a suffragette demonstration to Parliament House on February 19th to demand political rights for women. The Abdin District judge virtually dismissed the case when he postponed it indefinitely. French educated Doctor Shafik, one of Egypt's best-dressed women, is leader of the Ben El-Nil Union - Daughter of the Nile Movement. Her trial created great interest in Cairo. April 13, 1951.
