Légende: Voir la traduction automatique
A Siren and a Centaur, an illustration from the fourth quarter of 13th century (after 1277), from the region of Flanders. In Greek mythology the sirens were dangerous and beautiful creatures, part bird and part woman, who with their enchanting voices caused sailors to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. A centaur was a mythological creature with the head, arms, and torso of a human and the body and legs of a horse, known for their lustfulness and drunkenness. The exception was the wise Centaur Chiron.
