Sisyphus, Ixion and Tantalus. Sisyphus or Sisyphos, founder and king of Ephyra, punished for cheating death twice by being made to roll a huge boulder up a hill only for it to roll down every time it neared the top, repeating this action for eternity. Ixion, king of the Lapiths bound to a winged fiery wheel that was always spinning. Tantalus, aka Atys, Greek mythological figure made to stand in a pool of water beneath a fruit tree with low branches, with the fruit ever eluding his grasp, and the water always receding before he could take a drink.
