(Skeets) Coleman, 35, looks over the revolutionary vertical takeoff plane which he is scheduled to pilot on its first test flights in the near future. The plane, built by Consolidate-Vultee Aircraft for the Navy, sits on its tail and takes off straight up. It backs down to the ground, tail first, when landing. The counter-rotating propellers had been removed when this picture was taken yesterday. Lockheed Aircraft has made a similar plane.
