McDougal, Burke and Hare. Trial of William Burke and Helen M'Dougal, before. Robert Buchanan: Edinburgh, 1829. Helen McDougal; William Burke (1792-1829) and William Hare (d.1860s). Burke and Hare commited a series of murders, supplying the corpses to Dr Robert Knox, the anatomist, for dissection. Hare turned King's evidence. Burke was hanged.
