Orig. bildtext... JESSE JAMES GIVES THE LIE TO HISTORY. New York.... The man who has been known for many years as J. Frank Dalton and who now claims that he is Jesse James, notorious Missouri outlaw of many decades ago, is shown as he held a press conference in the Hotel Henry Hudson today. With him are two men who say they can corroborate his claim. Dalton (or James) said that History is incorrect in its report that I died at St. Joseph, Missouri, on the 3rd of April, 1882, at the gun of Bob Ford. He said that the victim of the shooting was a man named Charlie Bigelow. Dalton (or James) now 102 years old, his story was backed by Colonel James R. Davis, 109, and Brushy Bill Roberts, 90. Davis says he was a witness to the shooting of Bigelow and Roberts says he was a member of the James gang at the time. Dalton has instigated court action to permit him to resume his old name - Jesse James. Left to right are Col. Davis, Roberts and Dalton (or James). Anm.
