'Russaldar Major Maun Sing, Sirdar Bahadoor...senior native officer of the 9th Bengal Cavalry...He served at the siege of Delhi...He...was badly wounded, and had his horse killed under him with fourteen sword-cuts...Nawab Gholam Hussan Khan, C.S.I., of the 15th Mooltanee Cavalry, is chief of the Alagaie clan in the Derajat, who joined us during the siege of Mooltan, and again in the war of 1857...Subadar Major Nutha Sing, Sirdar Bahadoor, 23rd Punjaub Pioneers...assisted in raising a large body of his countrymen for service in the British ranks during the mutiny...Ressaldar Maun Sing, 10th Bengal Lancers, is the only mounted Goorkha in the Army...Subadar Bussunt Sing, a Sikh, remained faithful when the regiment, composed of men of Oudh, to which he then belonged, mutinied'.
