Ramified nerve cell, from grey matter. A ramified cell spreads or branches out. Grey matter refers to unmyelinated neurons and other cells of the central nervous system. It is present in the brain, brainstem and cerebellum, and present throughout the spinal cord. Drawn by Rudolf Albert von Kolliker (1817-1905), a Swiss anatomist and physiologist, in 1852.
