This vast bronze statue of the Greek sun god Helios, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, stood at the entrance to the harbor at Rhodes, a Greek island in the Aegean Sea. The statue, completed in 282 BC, was 108 feet tall. It was destroyed 56 years later in an earthquake.
