Temperance pledge for Luther Miller Pulce and Irene Jenkins of Centerville, Tennessee. A temperance or abstinence pledge is a commitment to practice abstinence, usually from alcohol. "Family Temperance Pledge" and "God Bless Our Home" is printed across the top. Rays of light emanate from an all-seeing eye floating above the Holy Bible. Below is an idealised domestic scene of a white family, with six reasons why a person should sign the pledge listed on either side.
