Copper (II) oxide reacts with hydrochloric acid. Black copper (II) oxide (CuO) reacts slowly with 1 M hydrochloric acid (HCl) at room temperature, producing blue solution of copper (II) chloride (CuCl2) and water: CuO + HCl -> CuCl2 + H2O. This photo was taken after solid copper (II) oxide has been in the acid for a day while being periodically shaken.
