Mr Michael Mason, with his 35 ton Bermuda Yacht Latifa, who recently won the 700 mile fast net race, has completed a yachting double by being first home in the Plymouth La Rochelle race after a voyage of 90 hours. La Rochelle Regatta officials were becoming anxious to the safety of the 18 yachts taking part in the race, as a freak storm had overturned a French sailing boat in the Bay of Biscay. 22 August 1947.
