Okinawa: Ten Years Later -- One of the most impressive buildings in the Sukiran housing Area is this chapel. Like the homes, it's built of concrete so as to be typhoon-proof. Shortly after U.S. troops gained possession of the island after the World War Two battle, a typhoon smashed the island and leveled most of the jerry-built structures. Now the wind can blow-as it it does at times-and there's no harm done. May 06, 1955. (Photo by U.S. Army Photo).
