ANTARTIC RELIEF SHIP SAILS. When the ex-Boom Defence Vessel the John Biscoe , left Southampton she carried a relief party of men for the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey . The ship is taking stores and mail for the Empire's loneliest scientists men who , for periods ranging from 18 to 30 months have been carrying out surveys work and scientific research in the Antarctic . When the John Biscoe makes her return trip she will bring some of the men home to Britain .
