California: c. 1930 California Native American houses were used mainly for storage and sleeping. The Yokuts made a bed by digging a hole in the dirt floor and filling it with dried tules. The tule bed was covered with a skin blanket. Dried food, basket materials, string, beads and ornaments, and all kinds of supplies were stored in baskets hung from the framework of the house
