The mystery surrouning Burgess and another diplomat, Donald Maclean, began when Scotland Yard applied yesterday for arrest warrants beacuse the two men were believed to be about to leave Russia. At first it seemes that Burgess and Maclean were on a flight from Moscow to London airport. But they were not on the plane. Today detectives have een to Tilbury Docks in case the ex-doplomats were on a Russian ship, Baltika. In the House of Commons today, members of parliament demanded to know how the information about the two had been leaked and wheter they had now been warned off by Scotlans Yard's action in applying for warrants. This picture is of Burgess, who served at one time in the British embassy in Washington. He was a close colleague of Maclean, and the two men disappeared together from Britain when they learnt that the authorities suspected them of passing information to the russians. Anm.
