The patient sits back on the left in a chair with a pained face. His left foot is on the surgeon's knee. A servant is standing behind the surgeon. The surgeon wears a beret, goggles, a mustache and a short beard, and he is dressed in a brown fur-trimmed cloak, with an instrument bag on the right. The servant wears a headscarf and he looks left with a smile and helps hold the foot. In the foreground a shoe, a basket of eggs and a stick. A hat or bag hangs on the patient's lap and a straw hat hangs from his chair. Against the wall on the left a mirror in a carved frame and on a rise of a few steps a table covered with a green cloth, above which an arched window on the left and in the middle against the background bottles, pots, a basin and a knife. Right a door. Signed on the chair. The painting is in a black-painted wooden frame with a gilded inner edge, 1904.
