"The Divine Comedy", Inferno: Falsifiers are afflicted with different types of affliction

Amos Nattini (1892-1985), "The Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri (1265-1321). Inferno, Canto XXIX, Circle 8: Fraud. Bolgia 10: Falsifiers (first category are the Alchemists) are afflicted with different types of afflictions; diseases, thirst, filth, screaming.. Private collection.. In 1921, for Dante Aligheri's 600th anniversary of death, the Istituto Nazionale Dantesco chose Amos Nattini to illustrate The Divine Comedy. The illustrations have been published in 1923.
