The famous Newmarket jockey, William Anthony Rickerby, took a day off from the racecourse today to Marie 24-year-old Miss Bridget Jarvis, only daughter of the late Mr WR Jarvis, who died in 1943 having trained racehorses the 3 kings of England. The families have been neighbours for years and it was Mr Jarvis he gave the jockey's first big chance. In 1933, at the age of 16 William wearing the King's colours, rode his first Newmarket winner. Picture shows: the bride and bridegroom greeted by well-wishers as cities the church this afternoon. 18 August 1947.
