GRIMOIRES - TALISMANS. Talismans are magical figures designed to achieve certain effects by spiritual means - usually by evoking the power of a particular angel or demon. Like the majority of talismans, the six recorded here are ultimately derived from the grimoire tradition. From top, reading left to right. Talisman from the Enchiridion of Pope Leo III. A talisman from the grimoire, The Sage of the Pyramids, recorded by A.E. Waite in The Book of Ceremonial Magic, is designed to grant invisibility to the possessor - supposedly, it also confers the ability to pass through solid walls: it should be painted on black silk. A talisman from The Sage of the Pyramids, designed to afford access to any places, and to read the thoughts of others. It should be painted on light grey satin, and (perhaps more than any other talisman) requires the contemporaneous use of a magic ring to be effective. For details, see A.E.
