Copper reacting with silver nitrate. Copper metal wire was immersed into a test tube containing a 0.25M silver nitrate solution. Since copper is more reactive than silver, a single-displacement reaction occurred: Cu + AgNO3 -> Ag + Cu(NO3)2. In this sequence the frames are, left to right: 10 sec after the wire was put into the test tube, after 5 min, after 20 min.
