Flintlock Gun. Culture: German. Designer: Decoration follows closely designs of the engraver De Lacollombe (French, Paris, active ca. 1702-ca. 1736). Dimensions: L. 56 3/8 in. (143.2 cm); L. of barrel 41 1/16 in. (104.3 cm); L. of lockplate 5 7/8 in. (14.9 cm), Cal. .62 in. (15.8 mm); Wt. 6 lb. 10 oz. (3005 g). Date: ca. 1730-40.
Though unsigned, this beautifully crafted hunting gun appears to have been made by a German craftsman copying designs from firearms pattern books published in Paris in the early to mid-eighteenth century.
