tile field, Anonymous, second half 17th century, tin glaze, earthenware, With frame: 28 x 41 x 3cm (280 x 410 x 30mm), Tile: 12.6 x 12.6 x 0.6cm (126 x 126 x 6mm), shepherd, landscape, dancing, mythology, northern netherlands, Tile field of six tiles (two by three) made of earthenware covered with tin glaze and painted in blue. Five of the six tiles depict so-called 'Utrecht shepherds': two figures in a landscape with trees in the background. The top left tile depicts a representation from Ovid's Metamorphoses: Daphne, pursued by Apollo, turns into a laurel in her supplications. All tiles have a spider as a corner motif, 1985.
