Injected Arterial Vessel System of Fetus, X-Ray

An injected arterial vessel system of a 9-month-old fetus. Collotype after an x-ray by E. Rommler for Gerhard Leopold and Th. Leisewitz. Text accompanying the image reads: "The ramification of the vessels in neck and head is very distinct: the vertebrales, carotis communis, the division into interna and externa, the maxillaris externa with the rami labiales, its anastomose with the dorsalis nasi, the art. Iingualis with its ramus dorsalis linguae and finally the region of the terminal ramification of the carotis interna. An abnormality of the right brachialis is to be noted: the radialis originates in the initial part of it and proceeds along and behind it. The vessels of the lower extremities are less clearly visible. The ramifications of the mesenterica sup., and of the two renales are very distinct. A branch of the hepatica seems to be ruptured, as a part of the liver is filled out with injection substance. In the remaining part, however, the finest capillaries are discernible. The right lung is filled with injection substance, the vessels of the left one are very distinct, and also the intercostales stand out clearly.".
