Scarab Set in a Ring Bezel. Dimensions: L. 1.6 cm × W. 1 cm × H. 0.7 cm (5/8 × 3/8 × 1/4 in.). Dynasty: Dynasty 18, early. Reign: reign of Thutmose I-Thutmose III. Date: ca. 1504-1425 B.C.. A giraffe is the central image on the base of this scarab, which was once part of a ring. This animal was associated with prophecy. Thus, the giraffe, in combination with the heiroglyphs on either side of it, predicted a "life of all good things" for the scarab's owner.
