The Duchess Of Kent Takes A Look At Liberated France -- The Duchess of Kent looking through binooulars at the liberated French coastal towns, from Dover Castle.These binooulars were actually taken from the Italian battleship "Littorio after the surrender of the Italian Fleet at Malta. They wore originally fixed for Hitler to review the Italian Fleet during a visit to Spezia.The Duchess of Kent made a tour of naval establishments at Dover where members of the W.R.N.S. have been serving in various capacities almost continuously throughout the air raids, bombing and shell-fire which the war brought to this "front Line" town. October 12, 1944.
