Kill Devil Hill, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, 1901. The quality of Octave Chanute's photographs were inferior compared to the Wright Brothers but, the scarcity of images of the 1901 glider give value to his documentation. Octave Chanute (1832-1910) was a French-born American railway engineer and aviation pioneer. He provided the Wright brothers with help and advice, and helped to publicize their flying experiments.
