Caudipteryx zoui, the first non-bird dinosaur fossil found with modern feathers, from the early Cretaceous (139-122 million years ago) in Liaoning Province, China. Discovered by Chinese, Canadian and American palaeontologists in 1998, this species was the first dinosaur found to have modern feathers (small filaments coming off a central shaft). Feather imprints are visible in the black area around the end of the forelimb.
