Romany Marriage At Baildon Yorkshire - The left hand of the Bridegroom and the right hand of the bride bound together with a Mystio Silken cord knotted in seven places, after their hands had been out to allow their blood to mingle. The Romany wedding of two Gypsies, Leon Petulengro, Nephew of Gypsy Petulengro, King of the gypsies, to Illeana Smith, took place with all the centuries old Romany wedding ritual at Baildon, Yorkshire, yesterday afternoon. The Romany ceremony which was performed by Xavier Petulengro, King of the Gypsies and which took place on the moors, was preceded by a service at Baildon Parish Church by the Vica.R. The couple afterwards rode away on horseback to the Romany ceremony accompanied by Gypsy musicians. August 30, 1937. (Photo by Keystone).
