Gert had many difficulties with her dancing at the Champs Elysées, as the police authorities refused to authorized her to continue appearing after the audience at her first appearence had displayed a profound dislike for her so-called futuristic interpretations of "ironic and infernal" dances, to quote her program noticed. The dancer protested to police authorities that her dances had been given with great success in Munich, Hamburg, Breslau, Budapest, Vienna and Prague. Finally, permission was given to her for a limited number of performances during which she was more quietly received by the audience.
