HMS AF CHAPMAN

Orginaltext. FIRST SWEDISH SAILING VESSEL TO VISIT UNITED STATES SINCE 1876. The H.M.S Af Chapman, training ship of the Swedich Navy, and the first Swedish vessel to visit America in 65yers arrived recently at Norfolk, Virginia, whit more than two hundred boys on board in training for the Swedish Navy and the Swedish Merchant Marine. There are only four square rigged ships of this type left in the world. O.P.S A group of the 200 boys who are in trraining for the Swedich Navcy and Merchant service, snapped during recreation hour abord the Af Chapman. FNA/S Keystone Anm. Af Chapman ex. GD Kennedy sjösattes vid Whitehaven GB 1888. Byggd i järn. Köptes av flottan från rederi AB Transatlantic 1923 som redan byggt om henne till skolfartyg. Samma år byggdes hon om ytterligare en gång på Örlogsvarvet i Karlskrona för att rymma 200 skeppsgossar. 1938 ändrades hon till logomentsfartyg.
