Titre: Othnielosaurus AKA Laosaurus consors
Légende: Voir la traduction automatique
The word dinosaur was coined by Richard Owen in 1841, deinos (terrible) + sauros (lizard) which describe various extinct reptiles of the orders Saurischia and Ornithischia that flourished during the Mesozoic Era. Dinosaurs were carnivorous or herbivorous, dwelled mostly on land, and varied from the size of a small dog to the largest land animals that ever lived. Othnielosaurus is a genus of ornithischian dinosaur that lived about 155 to 148 million years ago, during the Late Jurassic-age Morrison Formation of the western United States. It is named in honour of famed palaeontologist Othniel Charles Marsh, and was formerly assigned to the genus Laosaurus. Shown here is Othniel Charles Marsh's 1896 skeletal restoration of Laosaurus consors (now Othnielosaurus). Ornithischia or Predentata is an extinct order of beaked, herbivorous dinosaurs.
