Altar of the Roman Catholic Church in Rijsbergen, Principal entablature of an altar of oak with an open center field, corseted side walls and a broken pediment as a crown. The frame of the open central section is formed by two pilasters with candelabra ornamentation, which carry a five-sided architrave (egg frame) with shell motif in the center and cherubs in the swags. The sidewalls are constructed as follows: on a pilaster with simply profiled flat panels rest on a 21cm high square plinth two low rectangular plinths, on each of which a pilaster with in front a twisted column with composite capitals. The drums of the shaft are alternately fluted and decorated with rank ornament, in which putti are inserted. The entablature consists of profiled cover and rank frieze, in which a cherub, on the cantilever; and to crown the whole a broken pediment with a cartouche and a cherub filling the center field. Originating from the R.K. church at Rijsbergen., maker: anonymous, Zuid-Nederland, c. 1625 - c. 1650, wood (plant material), oak (wood), height 529.0 cm × width 451.0 cm.
