On the lid a Roman lance carrier with a broken lance (possibly with a freedom hat on it) and a shield with the Veere coat of arms and inscription. On the chalice engraved two hands together and the arms of Willem III and van Veere. Inscription above. A grenade on the base. In the cup a knight with horse and shield. Maker's mark: swimming dolphin, the soldier, the soldier's life, shaking hands, 'dextrarum junctio', Veere, Willem III (Prince of Orange and King of England, Scotland and Ireland), Order of the Garter, militia van Veere, anonymous, Middelburg, c. 1624, silver (metal), gilding, h 36 cm d 10 cm w 667 gr, Draw-leaf tables were fixtures in the homes of affluent citizens during the 17th century. This is an exceptionally luxurious example, with carving on the baluster legs.
