Breton Peasant Woman. Artist: Aimé-Jules Dalou (French, Paris 1838-1902 Paris). Culture: French, Paris. Dimensions: Height: 9 1/2 in. (24.1 cm). Date: probably 1880s. Dalou took a lifelong interest in popular types such as peasants and workers. After this bust was plastered onto its marble socle, someone scratched a crude "signature" into the plaster but it does not detract from the sincerity of this fine performance.
