Battle of Chemulpo. A set of Russian cartoons on the Russo-Japanese wa. Moscow and St.Petersburg, 1904. Russian heroes at the Battle of Chemulpo'. Two Russian warships, the cruiser Varyag and the gunboat, Koreyets, were blocked in Chemulpo by a Japanese Squadron. A Japanese torpedo boat attacked the Koreyets. Captain Rudnev ordered his sailors to scuttle the damaged Varyag and blow up the Koreyets. The crews of both ships were taken aboard British, French and Italian cruisers stationed nearby.
