Parsvanatha Statue - Parshva or Parshvanatha Parshvanath or Parswanath) was the twenty-third Tirthankara (fordmaker) in Jainism. He probably lived from about 750 BCE to about 650 BCE. He is the earliest Jain leader whom modern scholars consider to be a historical figure. The Yaksha Dharanendra and the Yakshi Padmavati are often shown flanking him (benevolent spirits). The seven-hooded serpent Shesh umbrella-like unfurling its hoods over the deity, represented elements of the earth and the ocean. ©TopFoto.
