Needle with slave bust, silver, gold, cast, chased, silver, remains of gilding, Total: Height: 4.8 cm; Height: 1.9 cm (bust); Width: 0.9 cm; Depth: 1.1 cm, garment decoration, man, types of people, Middle Imperial period, needle shaft and crowning of this garment needle are cast in one piece. The lower end is broken off. Remains of the former gilding are partially preserved. A bust of an elderly man with a pointed chin, wrinkled forehead, large protruding ears and a bald skull with a braided mop of hair (lat. cirrus) can be recognized on a five-petalled capital and a globe. On the back of the bust there is a ring eyelet. The representation is grotesquely distorted and should rather be seen as an apotropaic image of hunchbacked beggars and slaves.
