France, Lyon, Notre-Dame de Fourviere Basilica, decorated ceiling

The Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourviere sits high atop the Fourviere Hill in Lyon, France. Designed by Pierre Bossan and built between 1872 and 1876, it is in neo-Byzantine style, with slender turrets on its four corners and crenellated walls. The interior is richly decorated with gilt, marble work, stained glass windows and colored mosaics and paintings over virtually every surface.
