At the top of the medal a hole made for carrying the medal. On the obverse of the medal is a depiction of an angel driving out Sennacherib's army at the gates of Jerusalem, and the inscription VT above. SANHERIB A IERUSALEM 2.REG.19. On the other side, the city view of Leiden with the ramps of the besiegers in the foreground. Above the scene is the inscription SIC HISPA A LEYD NOCTV 3. OCTO.1574, 1950.
